Kaj Neve Teaches Columbia University Medical Students and Creedmoor Psychiatry Residents and Psychology Interns

Kaj Neve received his M.D. degree from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine, Omaha. He also attended Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center (Bronx), New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital (New York), and Ackerman Institute (New York) for his post graduate training. He served as Attending Psychiatrist on the Family Interaction Ward of Bronx Psychiatric Center, from 1983 to 1987. Since 1990, he has been working as a Chief Psychiatrist on the Intensive Training Unit of the Residency Training and Education Program, at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, Queens Village, NY and specializes in diagnosing and treating mental disorders.

Kaj Neve teaches Creedmoor psychiatry residents, Columbia University medical students and Creedmoor psychology interns. He also presented a module on the Dual Diagnosis Patient for direct care staff at the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and made many presentations to the Rehabilitation Department at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. Kaj Neve was a member of the Family Education Committee from 2002 to 2006.

His other clinical experiences include serving as Chief Resident in the Department of Family Practice at Lutheran Medical Center, as President of Lutheran Medical Center House Staff Association and as a visiting faculty member at the Family Studies Section of Bronx Psychiatric Center. Kaj Neve holds memberships in the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the American Psychiatric Association, and the World Federation for Mental Health.

Kaj Neve Teaches Antipsychotics Course for Creedmoor Psychology Interns

Born in Nagano-Ken, Japan, Kaj Neve graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine to obtain his Doctor of Medicine Degree. His post-graduate training includes a Residency in Family Practice, Residency in Psychiatry, Fellowship in Public Psychiatry and a clinical externship in Family Therapy.

In 1983, he joined the Family Interaction Ward at Bronx Psychiatric Center as an Attending Psychiatrist and worked there for 4 years. He worked as Staff Psychiatrist at Morrisania N.F.C.C., Bronx, New York. and later was Director of the Day Hospital. From 1989 until 1990, he worked as an Assistant to the Clinical Director, at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, Queens Village, New York. Since 1990, Kaj Neve has been Chief Psychiatrist on the Intensive Training Unit of the Residency Education and Training Program, at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. Since 2004, he has been teaching a course on the Adverse Sexual Effects of Psychotropics and their Treatment, for Creedmoor psychiatry residents.

In addition, Kaj Neve teaches a course on Psychotic disorders to Creedmoor psychiatry residents, another course on antipsychotics for Creedmoor psychology interns, and is a Clinical Supervisor for Creedmoor psychiatry residents and Columbia University Medical Center medical students. His other professional experiences include working at Lutheran Medical Center as Chief Resident (Family Practice), and as President of the Lutheran Medical Center Housestaff Association. Kaj Neve has received many awards and honors, including Teacher of the Year awards in 1999 and 2005.
