Based in New York, Kaj Neve has broad experience in the field of psychiatry. He graduated from The American School in Japan, Tokyo, Japan. In 1969, he enrolled at Dana College, Blair, Nebraska for his Bachelor of Arts degree. He also holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine, Omaha.
Kaj Neve completed his Residency in Family Practice at Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1979, and Residency in Psychiatry at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y., in 1982.
From 1983 to 1985, he trained in Family Therapy at the Family Studies Section of Bronx Psychiatric Center, Bronx, N.Y. In addition, he also completed a Clinical Externship in Family Therapy at Ackerman Institute, New York, N.Y. From 1990 until now, he has served as Chief Psychiatrist on the Residency Training Unit of Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, Queens Village, New York. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and the World Federation for Mental Health.
Kaj Neve has extensive teaching experience. He holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, and teaches and supervises residents in the Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. He was a teacher and supervisor of Albert Einstein College of Medicine medical students at the Bronx Psychiatric Center. Kaj Neve was a visiting faculty member at the Family Studies Section of Bronx Psychiatric Center where he offered consultation and training for Psycho-educational and Multiple Family Group Programs.
In recognition of his contributions to the medical field, Kaj Neve has received several awards and honors. He received two ‘Teacher of the Year’ awards from the Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry (Creedmoor Psychiatric Center): one in 1999 and another in 2005. He also received a Workforce Champions Award, as a member of the New York State Office of Mental Health PSYCHES team in 2004.
